I’ve just started reading From Behind the Wall: Commentary on Crime, Punishment, Race, and the Underclass by a Prison Inmate, but it’s looking like it’s going to be a good read. The book, written by Mansfield B. Frazier (who also runs Neighborhood Solutions and publishes the Reentry Advocate Magazine), is a detailed look at what it means to be a felon in today’s society.
“Neighborhood Solutions, Inc. is dedicated to developing programs that assist in solving some of the problems posed by (and to) these individuals as they attempt to transition from prison back into the community.”
Frazier’s collection of essays shares the experiences of a black man who did time for credit-card fraud. Many new ideas are explored in the book as he looks for ways to tackle problems of poverty and violent crime – two very serious problems in modern America.
This book isn’t going to be for everyone, but if you’re an ex felon or want to know more about what ex felons have to go through, it is a good read. If you can’t afford a copy of your own, ask at your local library. Chances are high they will have a copy or will be able to get you a copy.
This book is recommended for those wanting to know more about ex felons and what they have to go through on a day to day basis. If you have questions or need help, leave a comment and we’ll see what we can do.
